Nobu Malibu: High-end Delicious Sushi Chain at the Malibu Country Mart
by Cindy Ambuehl on August 8, 2011If you are anything like me then you love hearing about new restaurants to try around the community. Sushi is one of my favorite foods and last week I went to Nobu in Malibu for my first time. I had heard many great things about the restaurant and I was not disappointed.
Nobu Malibu opened in October of 1999 and is located at 3835 Cross Creek Road. Nobu currently has 25 restaurants spanning across five continents. It is known for its excellent cuisine that features Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature dishes such as Tiradito and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno. There are also some Malibu favorites created by the Executive Chef Gregorio Stephenson and delicious eye catching desserts.
Here are some things to know about Nobu Malibu:
- Nobu is available for private parties and offsite catering.
- Open everyday from 5:45-10:00pm (Friday and Saturday until 11:00pm)
- Nobu cookbooks can be bought during service at the restaurant
I went to Nobu later in the evening on a Tuesday, the drive on PCH from Santa Monica was beautiful and luckily there was no traffic. It was crowded when we got there but we were seated right away. I felt very cozy and relaxed with the dim lights and our waiter was very informative about the best dishes to try. For the main courses we ordered the Tiradito, Yellotail Sashimi with Jalapeno, Fluke Sashimi with Dried Red Miso and Yuzu sauce, the Rock Shrimp Tempura with Creamy Spicy Sauce and the Ribeye Steak with Truffle Butter Sauce. Every dish was amazing, all of the sauces used were mouthwatering and went with each main course seamlessly. For dessert I decided to try the Chocolate Spring Rolls which came with three dipping sauces and a scrumptious scoop of strawberry ice cream. I had never heard of this dessert before but it was fantastic along with the rest of the meals. I have to say that Nobu has become my new favorite sushi restaurant and I plan on going for for seconds later this week.
